Railway police in Bihar have successfully apprehended three women at Bettiah railway station in possession of four and a half kilograms of hashish, with an estimated value exceeding one crore rupees. Acting on a tip from an informant, the Railway Police launched a targeted search operation on the Jannayak train bound for Punjab.
The three women, identified as Urmila Kumari from Jalandhar, Punjab, Mintu Devi from Vaishali, Bihar, and Sapna Kumari from Motihari, Bihar, were arrested on platform number one at Bettiah railway station. The recovered hashish, totaling 4.50 kg, was reportedly intended for delivery in Punjab.
The apprehension took place late at night as the Railway Police acted on specific information about the women intending to transport charas on the Jannayak train. The successful operation resulted in the recovery of nine packets of hashish from the suspects. Railway DSP Umesh Kumar confirmed the arrests and the ongoing investigation at Bettiah Railway Station. The three arrested women are currently being interrogated by the police.
